Horror experimental video

Logs for horror experimental clips

I experimented with colour grading, and added sound effects and varying the volumes of the audio.

For this video I focused on experimenting with effects and using a score. I also adjusted the speed and duration of clips.

It is likely that I will use the sound effects/ the use of 'stings' found in both of my videos in the final short film as I found them very effective in creating unease and I think it would be good to use in our horror sequence to introduce a sense of danger.

Budget template/ breakdown

Sections of the budget breakdown have been left empty as they are not applicable for our production (student production).

Our production does not require additional costs for the story rights & development as we have worked as a group to create this idea- we worked together.

No extra costs are needed for the crew as we are students, not professionals and all are working and supporting each other during filming.

For our cast(including extras), we are using friends who are willing to help with our production for free, therefore no money has been put towards the cast.,

For the travel and living costs, cast and crew will travel using public transport (bus and train). The cost for the transport would be about £1.50 per person with an oyster, therefore an approximate cost for the travel budget would be about £10- in case someone needs to buy a ticket(e.g if they forgot their oyster.

For our wardrobe/ costume of our cast, they will be wearing their own clothes, therefore not much extra expenses will go towards wardrobe other than for our antagonist. We have decided for our antagonist to wear all black, and will buy a black mask from Amazon for £7.99.

No additional costs would go towards the production since we will not be making any changes to the set. Extras are helping with the production at no extra cast, and we asa group are the production 'staff'. Our short film is not of a large scale so extra costs for things such as props for sets are unnecessary to us.

I have added £10 for transportation(for the train) in case we need more days to reshoot- will need more money for travel.

We will not be needing any extra effects for the production(as it is not of a large scale).

We will also be using software of premiere pro to edit(free of extra charges as we are students, therefore we have free accounts under the school email) and will be sourcing music/ sound effects etc from copyright free sources from YouTube or other websites etc..

The equipment we will use (camera, microphone, tripod etc.) will be borrowed from the school, therefore that section has been left empty in the budget breakdown.

All our locations are public spaces which are of no additional cost to us except for the hotel room which would approximately be £100 unless the hotel staff let us use the room for free just to film for an hour as we will not be using it overnight, but would still bed able to use it the next day if we need to re-film shots.

For the other expenses section, there will be no need to put money towards legal or publicity as this is a student production, therefore is not being publicly distributed. Insurance is also not necessary for our production.

£12 has been added for the general expenses section- this will be for train tickets, oyster top-ups and food for the cast and crew (if necessary depending on how longs the shoot lasts).

Shooting schedhule

This was our original shooting schedule, however the days we filmed ended up changing due to the weather conditions (heavy rain) and the lighting conditions were not optimal for filming. Therefore the filming for shoots 3 and 4 had to be pushed back. Shoot 2 was also pushed back due to the hotel room only being available on Sunday.

Shoot 5 was done a day earlier due to the lighting be perfect for the shoot, it also meant the filming on Saturday wouldn't be as rushed.

However filming on Saturday morning was carried out successfully.
